Convert PDF to Word (editable DOCX)
Turn PDFs into fully editable Word documents.
To convert a PDF to Word, upload the file, choose all pages or a range such as 1-3,5, and download a DOCX. The converter pulls the text out of each page and rebuilds it as editable Word paragraphs, with a page break between pages. It does not copy the original layout, fonts or images, and it does not read scanned pages, so it works best on PDFs made from a word processor or exported from a website.
How to convert a PDF to Word
Choose a PDF up to 25 MiB. Leave the page range empty to convert every page, or enter pages and ranges such as 1-3,5 to convert only those. Submit the form, wait for processing and download the DOCX. Open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice and edit it like any other document.
What you get in the Word file
The DOCX contains the text of each selected page as plain paragraphs, in reading order, with a page break between pages. Headings, columns, tables, fonts, colours and images from the PDF are not reproduced, so expect to reapply styling. That trade-off keeps the text clean and easy to edit instead of producing a fragile copy of the page design.
When this converter fits, and when it does not
Use it when you need the words: quoting a report, reusing a contract clause, or rewriting a CV. If the PDF is a scan or a photo of a page there is no text to extract, so the result can be empty. Run the Searchable PDF tool first to add a text layer, then convert. If you need an exact visual copy, a layout-preserving desktop editor is a better choice.
Privacy and file limits
Uploads are limited to 25 MiB per file and the service processes one PDF at a time. Download your result as soon as it is ready. Avoid uploading documents you are not allowed to share with a third-party service.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert only some pages of a PDF to Word?
Yes. Enter page numbers and ranges in the optional page range field, for example 1-3,5. Only those pages are written to the DOCX. Leave the field empty and every page in the PDF is converted.
Will the Word file look like my PDF?
No. The converter rebuilds the extracted text as plain Word paragraphs and keeps page breaks. Fonts, columns, tables, colours and images from the original design are not reproduced, so plan to restyle the document after conversion.
Does PDF to Word work on scanned documents?
Not directly. A scanned PDF holds page images with no text to extract, so the DOCX may come out empty. Add a text layer with the Searchable PDF tool first, then run the converted file through this tool again.
What is the maximum PDF size I can convert?
Each upload can be up to 25 MiB. If your PDF is larger, shrink it with the Compress PDF tool or split it into parts with Split PDF, then convert each part separately and join the text in Word.
Which programs can open the DOCX file?
The result is a standard DOCX file, so it opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, Apple Pages and most other word processors. You can edit, restyle and save it in any of them without further conversion.
