Image tools to resize, convert, compress and edit
Convert, resize, compress and touch up images.
These image tools handle everyday picture jobs: changing size or format, making files smaller, cropping and rotating, removing or replacing backgrounds, adding watermarks or borders, and creating things like QR codes and favicons. Each tool does one job on the image you upload and gives you a file to download. Uploads are limited to 20 MiB per image, and the supported input formats are JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF and BMP unless a tool page says otherwise.

Use tool →Which image tool for which job
If a picture is too large to upload or email, start with Image Compressor for file size or Image Resizer for pixel dimensions; they solve different problems, and a big photo often needs both. Use Image Converter to switch between JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF and BMP, and HEIC Converter for iPhone photos. Crop Image and Rotate / Flip Image fix framing and orientation. For cut-outs, Background Remover isolates the subject and Background Changer puts it on a new background. To protect or label a picture, use Watermark Image, Add Border or Strip Image Metadata, which removes hidden data such as camera details before you post a photo. Blur/Pixelate Faces hides identities. Image to PDF turns pictures into a document. For making things, there are the QR Code Generator, QR Code Reader, Favicon Generator, Meme Generator, Photo Collage Maker, Color Palette Extractor, SVG Converter and Image to ASCII Art. To get text out of a picture, use Image to Text (OCR) under Document Tools.
Limits and privacy
Images can be up to 20 MiB each, and most tools process one image at a time. Tools that combine pictures, such as Image to PDF and Photo Collage Maker, take several. Results are held only briefly so you can download them, then removed. Background removal and face blurring are automatic and can miss edges or faces, so check the output before you rely on it. Only upload pictures you are allowed to share with a third-party service, and keep your originals: formats like JPG lose detail each time they are re-saved with lower quality.
Common image workflows
Prepare a photo for a website: Crop Image to the shape you need, Image Resizer to the display size, then Image Compressor or Image Converter to WEBP for a smaller file. Post a phone photo safely: HEIC Converter to JPG, Strip Image Metadata, then Blur/Pixelate Faces if other people appear. Make a product shot: Background Remover, then Background Changer to a plain colour. Build a document from photos: Rotate / Flip Image for sideways shots, then Image to PDF. Brand an image set: Watermark Image on each one. Download each result and upload it to the next tool.
Choosing the right format
JPG suits photographs and cannot hold transparency. PNG keeps sharp edges and transparent areas, which suits logos and screenshots, at larger file sizes. WEBP gives small files for websites. GIF has a limited palette and BMP files are large, so use them only when something requires them.
Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum image size?
Each image can be up to 20 MiB. If a photo is larger, it often means a very high resolution. Shrink it elsewhere first, or check the page of the specific tool for any different limit on its input.
Which image formats are supported?
Most image tools accept JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, GIF and BMP files. iPhone HEIC photos need the separate HEIC Converter first. Individual tools can differ, so check the tool page for the formats it takes and returns.
What is the difference between resizing and compressing an image?
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions, such as 4000 by 3000 down to 1200 by 900. Compressing keeps the dimensions and lowers the file size, usually by reducing quality. Large photos often need both to meet an upload limit.
Can I remove the background from a photo?
Yes, with Background Remover. It works automatically, and results depend on how clearly the subject stands out from the background. Check the edges before using the cut-out, and use Background Changer if you want a new background.
How do I remove location data from a photo?
Use Strip Image Metadata, which removes hidden data such as camera details and location tags from the file. Download the cleaned copy and share that one, since the original on your device keeps its data.
