Document tools for Office files, CSV and OCR
Convert between office document formats.
These document tools convert office files and pull text out of pictures: Word to PDF, Excel to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF, CSV to Excel, Excel to CSV and Image to Text (OCR). Upload a file, adjust the few options each tool offers and download the result. They are made for quick, plain conversions, not for pixel-exact reproduction of complex layouts. Size limits are 20 MiB for DOCX and XLSX, 25 MiB for PPTX and 10 MiB for CSV or Excel data conversion.

To send a Word file in a fixed form, use Word to PDF; to share a workbook, use Excel to PDF; for slides, use PowerPoint to PDF. Word to PDF rebuilds the text of the document and does not carry over images or tables from the original, so check the output on documents with complex layout. For data, CSV to Excel turns a CSV into an XLSX, with options for encoding, delimiter and a header row, and keeps every value as text so leading zeros survive. Excel to CSV does the reverse for one worksheet, which you can pick by name. To get words out of a photo or scan, use Image to Text (OCR) and choose the language of the text. For editing a PDF back into Word, see PDF to Word in PDF Tools.
Limits and privacy
Word and Excel inputs can be up to 20 MiB, PowerPoint up to 25 MiB and 100 slides, and data files up to 10 MiB. Only .docx, .xlsx, .pptx and .csv files are accepted, not the older .doc, .xls or .ppt formats. Macros and external links in presentations are not supported. PowerPoint conversion runs as a background job and may wait in a shared queue. Results are held only briefly and removed. Spreadsheets and contracts are often sensitive, so only upload files you are allowed to share with a third-party service.
Common document workflows
Scan to text: Image to Text (OCR) on a photo of a page, choosing its language. Photographed several pages: Image to PDF in Image Tools, then Searchable PDF in PDF Tools. Share a report: Word to PDF, then Compress PDF if it is large. Hand data to a colleague who uses Excel: CSV to Excel with the right delimiter and encoding. Pull numbers out of a workbook for a script: Excel to CSV. Send a deck for review: PowerPoint to PDF, then Add Page Numbers or Watermark PDF. Download each result and upload it to the next tool.
Check the result
Conversions that rebuild content can differ from what you see in Office. Open every output before sending it. For CSV files that look scrambled in Excel, the cause is usually a mismatch in delimiter or encoding, which you can change and try again.
Frequently asked questions
Which document formats are supported?
Word to PDF takes .docx, Excel to PDF and Excel to CSV take .xlsx, PowerPoint to PDF takes .pptx, and CSV to Excel takes .csv. The older .doc, .xls and .ppt formats are not accepted, so re-save them in the newer format first.
Will my Word document look identical as a PDF?
Not always. Word to PDF rebuilds the text and roughly follows headings, but images and tables from the source are not carried over. Check the PDF before sending it, and use your own Office app if you need exact layout.
What are the file size limits?
Word and Excel files can be up to 20 MiB, PowerPoint files up to 25 MiB with a maximum of 100 slides, and CSV or Excel data conversions up to 10 MiB. Larger files will be rejected with an error message.
Why does my CSV look wrong in Excel?
Usually the delimiter or text encoding does not match. Use CSV to Excel and set the delimiter to comma, semicolon or tab, and try UTF-8 or Windows-1252 as the encoding. All values are stored as text, so leading zeros are kept.
Can I extract text from a photo or scan?
Yes, with Image to Text (OCR). Choose the language of the text before submitting. Accuracy depends on image sharpness and layout, so proofread the output. For multi-page scans, use Searchable PDF in PDF Tools instead.
