Convert PDF to images (PNG or JPG)
Render every page of a PDF as a PNG or JPG image.
To convert a PDF to images, upload it, choose PNG or JPG and set a resolution between 72 and 300 DPI (150 is the default). Every page is rendered as its own picture. A one-page PDF downloads as a single image, and a longer PDF downloads as a ZIP with one image per page, named page-1, page-2 and so on. The tool converts the whole document; there is no page range.
How to convert PDF pages to images
Choose a PDF up to 25 MiB, pick the image format and enter the DPI. Submit the form and download the result. Single pages come back as one file; multi-page documents arrive as a ZIP you unzip to get one image per page. Names are based on your original file name.
PNG or JPG
PNG is the default and suits text, diagrams and screenshots, since edges stay crisp. JPG files are usually smaller and fit pages with photographs, but they can show slight blur around small text. Pages are rendered as they appear on screen, so a white page background becomes a solid white image rather than transparent.
Choosing a resolution
DPI controls pixel size. At 72 DPI a letter-size page is about 612 by 792 pixels, fine for a quick preview. At 150 DPI it is roughly 1275 by 1650, good for on-screen reading, and 300 DPI gives about 2550 by 3300 pixels for printing. Higher values produce larger files and take longer, especially on documents with many pages.
Images already inside the PDF
This tool draws whole pages, text and graphics included. If you only want the photos that are embedded in the PDF at their original size, Extract PDF Images pulls them out individually. To get words rather than pictures, use PDF to Text. To go the other direction, Image to PDF builds a PDF from pictures.
Frequently asked questions
How do I save a PDF page as a JPG?
Upload the PDF, set the image format to JPG and submit. A one-page PDF downloads as a single JPG. For a longer PDF you get a ZIP with every page as a JPG, so pick out the page you need.
What DPI should I choose for PDF to image?
Use 150 DPI for reading on screen, which is the default. Go up to 300 for printing or zooming into fine detail, and down to 72 for small previews. The tool accepts any whole number from 72 to 300.
Can I convert only one page of a PDF to an image?
Not directly, because the tool renders every page. Cut the page out first with Split PDF or Reorder / Delete PDF Pages, then convert that one-page file. Or convert everything and take the image you need from the ZIP.
Why did I get a ZIP file?
PDFs with more than one page produce one image per page, so they are packaged in a ZIP. Only a single-page PDF downloads as a plain image. Unzip the archive to see page-1, page-2 and the rest.
Does the image keep the text selectable?
No. Each page becomes a flat picture, so text is no longer selectable or searchable. If you need the words, use PDF to Text on the original, or Searchable PDF if the source was a scan.
