Add a watermark or logo to a video

Overlay a logo or watermark image onto a video.

To watermark video clips, upload the video and a logo image, pick a corner and set the logo size, then download an MP4 with the logo placed on every frame. The watermark image can be a JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF or BMP up to 20 MiB, and a PNG with transparency keeps its see-through areas. The video can be up to 200 MiB and 5 minutes. The audio is copied as it is.

How to add a watermark

Choose your video and your watermark image. Select Top left, Top right, Bottom left or Bottom right, and set the size percentage, which starts at 15. Submit the form and wait on the status page. The result is an MP4 named after your video with -watermarked added.

Position and size

The logo sits 10 pixels in from the chosen corner and shows for the whole video. There is no custom position, timing or opacity setting. The size value is a percentage between 1 and 100, but it is applied to the logo's own width, so 15 makes the logo about 15% of its original size, not 15% of the video width. Test with a short clip.

Choosing a good watermark file

Use a PNG with a transparent background so the logo does not appear in a white box. Make the image large enough to look sharp after scaling, and keep it simple, because fine detail disappears when small. Contrast matters too: a pale logo is hard to see on a bright scene.

Quality, limits and related tools

The video is re-encoded with H.264 into an MP4, so there can be a small quality change, and the audio is copied untouched. Videos over 5 minutes are rejected. Trim first with Trim Video if needed, and compress afterwards with the Video Compressor. For subtitle text rather than a logo, use Add Subtitles to Video.

Frequently asked questions

Which image formats work as a watermark?

JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, GIF and BMP files up to 20 MiB are accepted. A PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result, because the transparent areas stay see-through over the video.

Where can I place the watermark?

In one of four corners: top left, top right, bottom left or bottom right, with a small margin from the edge. There is no free positioning, and the logo cannot move during the video.

Can I make the watermark semi-transparent?

There is no opacity setting. The logo is drawn as it appears in your image. To get a faded look, make the image semi-transparent in an image editor and save it as a PNG before you upload it.

How big will the watermark be?

You set a percentage from 1 to 100, which the tool applies to the logo image's own width. A 15 setting shrinks the logo to about 15% of its original width. Try a short test clip to see the result.

Does the watermark appear for the whole video?

Yes. It is overlaid on every frame from start to end. You cannot choose a start or end time for it. Trim the video first if you only want the logo on part of the footage.
